This was a chord progression from Rik back in 2019 that came together rather quickly. It has kind of style that was prevalent in a lot of our previous songs, with basically two separate songs in one, the Part A “Gone Away” and then the “Curious Man” part B. There was a lot of back and forth on this song and how it should be structured. ‘Is the solo too long, ‘is it long enough,’ ‘is the vibe off’ were constant talking points. Russell brought his old vox wah pedal for Shea to try out, and the vibe of the song changed dramatically. It gave it this heavy, moody, kind of dark energy that really made the first half of the song fall into place and flow into the second half.

Lyrics
Gone away x2
Gone away
Tankin’ the game in the land
What a day
Cooked one up in the sand
Your modern daze
Stuck to the slow out by the lake
To moderate
The touch of the dirt in my hand
My hand
Take the day
Holdin yourself in your hand
All washed away
In the ocean again
I don’t blame
You for the trust you’re only man
They wanna shame
You for takin a stand
You stand
You stand…x3
Gone away
Tastin the truth
That you can
In another game
Fear in your mind and your hand
I would bet
You do what you do in the stands
Modern man
Lost in the garden again
You stand…x3
Curious man x3
Curious man holdin a spotlight
Secured in his heart and in his hand
and mind
Curious man
dreamin of somewhere away from the plight of his life
and I
want
to
know what the hell is goin on
and I
want
to
know what the hell is goin on
I
want
to
know what the hell is goin on
