Scribe - Russell records our practices in the Voice Memos App that way if we play something exciting, we can listen back to it. We tend to forget certain intricacies that are created in the ‘moment’, no matter how much we try to remember all of them. We called it “Scribe” because it came from always recording the practices, like the way a scribe was tasked in being the record keeper. Scribe started just as something that we jammed on, a three-chord progression that Rik had. We just jammed on it for like 15 mins and at one point it went from the 3 chords to just 2 chords. All throughout there were a bunch of cool things that Shea played using a delay effect, especially toward the end of the lengthy jam. A week or two later, Russell was listening to it and thinking, “We have to try to make a song out of these riffs because they’re really cool.” So, he played it for everyone and we kind of were able to grab some of the parts and construct a song using those riffs. It feels like it was the first time we ever did that, where we pulled some random riffs in a jam and said, “that’s the intro, that’s the verse, etc.” Mike would always yell, “Scribe” impersonating the scene from, ‘Monty Python & the Quest for the Holy Grail’ if we needed to pull up a recording for reference after this.
lyrics
You find me too safe
Ridin weeks on my way
Through the holly and the chimes the wind takes
So far along some dusty road
Seein signs all pointing home
So take the change and buy the coach
Fill your mind
Fill your mind
The trash all finds the lake
Some island on the waves
The tide is full of waste
So fill your mind
So far along some dusty road
Seein signs all pointing home
So take the change and buy the coach
Fill your mind
Until your blind
Frozen in a page
Frightened by the way
You see it every day
Yeah all aboard the train
Time is yours to make
So much you gotta shake
In the holly and the chimes the wind takes
So far along some dusty road
Seein signs all pointing home
So take the change and buy the coach
Fill your mind
Until your blind
Frozen in a page
Frightened by the way
You see it every day
Yeah all aboard the train
Frozen in a page
Frightened by the way
You see it every day
Yeah all aboard the train
Oooooh the train x7
Fill your mind and go blind x6
