Paul Simons – During some down time at practice Shea and Mike started talking about drums and unconventional rhythms. Shea showed him a beat from Broken Bells, Citizen and how he loved the sway it created with the snare landing on the 3rd beat. Mike started messing around with the rhythm making it his own and everyone grabbed their instruments to join in. We started the song on Emaj and just started rocking back and forth between E and B. We found the pulsing rhythm on the bass and keys very quickly but the register felt too low so we swapped it to B and E. The change stuck instantly. The bass and drums together really drive the song. We don’t really write ‘dance’ songs, but we couldn’t resist with the rhythm section driving the groove so hard. We didn’t want to make this one too long, just short and sweet. It also pushed Rik vocally because it had him sitting at the top of his first bridge much longer than normal. Shea was originally playing a lick over the chorus with his electric piano but after we got everything recorded instrumentally the chorus still felt a little light. Shea changed the lick to a synth, and everyone really liked how big it made the chorus sound. Rik reworked his chorus lyrics and melody. Aki helped elevate it even further with the addition of another synth and really pushing the dynamics in that section.

Lyrics
Here we go once again,
another plane you take it from him, why
Fightin for another way
Breaking through destroying everything
So what you doin in the sand
Freedom writer hatred in your hand, why
So there it is you sinister plan
But what about kickin the rusty can
You’ve become some mystery man
And you know I’ll never understand
Prone to war again and again
Save yourself and pillage the land
Safe through your news
I wanna know you
I wanna feel your heart
I wanna know you
I wanna feel your heart
I wanna know you
I wanna feel your heart
I wanna know you
I wanna feel heart
Feel your heart
Feel your heart
